Summary
We use the minimum cookies needed to run preshift.co.uk and to understand how it is used at an aggregate level. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking pixels, no third-party advertising beacons. You can refuse analytics cookies entirely and the site will still work.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They let the site remember things between page loads (whether you have dismissed the cookie banner, for example), and they let us measure how the site performs.
This policy explains every cookie we set, why we set it, how long it lasts, and how you can turn it off. It is written to satisfy the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR. The wider Privacy Policy at /privacy explains what we do with the data the cookies help us collect.
2. The cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are required for the site to work. They cannot be switched off in our systems because the site cannot function without them. They do not store any personally identifiable information.
• preshift_session, kept for the duration of your browser session, holds an anonymous session token so server-rendered pages can be served consistently. • preshift_consent, kept for twelve months, remembers which cookie categories you have agreed to so we do not ask again on every page. • stack_unlock, kept for thirty days when set, remembers that you have entered the password on a gated product page (relevant only if you have been given that password).
Analytics cookies. These cookies are set only with your consent through the cookie notice on first visit. We use them to understand how the site is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it.
• _ga and _ga_*, kept for thirteen months, set by Google Analytics to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. IP addresses are anonymised before processing.
That is the full list. We do not use any other cookies.
3. Cookies we do not use
For the avoidance of doubt:
• We do not use advertising cookies. No Google Ads cookies, no Meta Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no TikTok pixel. • We do not use cross-site tracking pixels. • We do not sell, share, or syndicate any cookie-derived data to third parties for marketing. • We do not use cookies on our product applications beyond what is strictly necessary for the application to function. Reports and Stack are session-cookie only.
4. How to control cookies
When you first visit preshift.co.uk you are asked whether you consent to analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clicking the cookie preferences link in the footer.
You can also block or delete cookies directly through your browser. Each browser handles this slightly differently:
• Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data. • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data. • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data.
If you block strictly necessary cookies the site may not work as expected. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on functionality.
The Information Commissioner's Office publishes useful general guidance on cookies at ico.org.uk.
5. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when we change the cookies we use. The most recent version is always at preshift.co.uk/cookies with the date at the top of the page. Material changes are notified on the site for a reasonable period.
6. Contact
